The short version. Stitch Scroll reads the knitting or crochet pattern you photograph and turns it into rows you count with a tap. You sign in with Apple or Google so your patterns, page photos, counts, notes and Scan Credits follow you to a new phone. When you scan, your page photos go once to our AI provider only to read them. We never share or sell your patterns, never show ads, and never track you. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.
Who we are
Stitch Scroll is made by DigiRune Studios, a division of McCullough Development, Inc. (a South Carolina corporation in Beaufort, South Carolina, USA). Questions about this policy? Email will@digirunestudios.com. This page supplements the general DigiRune Studios privacy policy; where they differ for Stitch Scroll, this page governs.
Your account
To scan your own patterns you sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google. We receive an account identifier from that provider and, depending on the provider and your choices, your name and email address. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We never receive or store your Apple or Google password. The four sample patterns work without an account.
Your patterns, page photos and counts
The patterns Stitch Scroll reads for you, the photos of their pages, your place in each pattern, any lines you corrected, and your own notes, row reminders, time spent and finished-project photo are stored in two places: on your device, so the app works without internet, and in your private account in Google Firebase (Firestore), so they appear on your other devices. We keep the page photos because the app shows the designer's own printed line beside every row. Your patterns are private to your account. We do not browse, share, publish or sell them.
Reading your pattern
When you tap Read my pattern, the pages you chose are sent over an encrypted connection, through a server we run on Cloudflare, to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI models) for one purpose: reading the words and charts on your pages. Pages you mark as a cover or photo are never sent. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what we send through their API is not used to train their models by default and is kept only for a limited time. See privacy.claude.com. Our server keeps the reading result for up to one hour so a dropped connection never costs you a second scan, then it is deleted.
Scan Credits and purchases
Your Scan Credit balance (how many credits you have and have used) is kept with your account on our server so it follows you to a new device. Purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their own terms. We receive a receipt to confirm the purchase, never your card details. We keep a record of each purchase (never card details) so it is never credited twice, including after an account is deleted.
What we do not collect
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or tracking tools.
- No location, contacts or microphone.
- The camera and your photos are used only when you choose to add a page.
- We do not build a profile of you or follow you across other apps or websites.
Keeping the screen awake
While you count, Stitch Scroll can keep your screen on so it does not go dark between rows. You can turn this off in Settings. It shares nothing.
Service providers
- Google Firebase: sign-in and storing your patterns and page photos in your account.
- Anthropic: reading the pages you scan.
- Cloudflare: our server that sends scans to Anthropic and keeps your scan balance.
- Apple and Google: sign-in and purchases.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Deleting your data
- Remove a pattern: open it, tap the list of rows, then Remove this pattern. Its rows, your place and its page photos are removed from your device and your account.
- Delete your account: Settings, then Delete my account. This removes your account, your cloud copy, your page photos in the cloud and your scan balance. Patterns already on the device stay there until you remove them or delete the app.
- No longer have the app? Ask us to delete your account.
Children
Stitch Scroll is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
